John Legend Concert
It was a pleasant and memorable experience as it brought many pleasant surprises: my cousin and I were originally seated at the 'Dress Circle' level which was the very top section of the theatre but moved to the 'Mezzanine' level that gave us a perfect eye - level view instead of the fish - eye from above. The highlight: one of our youth leaders from church was taken up on stage to dance with Mr Legend to 'Slow Dance' and receiving a healthy complimentary rose and a hug-kiss. He even asked for her name! I described it as the "Highly Favoured" concert for my amigos and myself.
The theatre looked so magical with antique chandeliers, elegant wall papers, and a grand assembly. This heritage building opened back in 1929 and uses eclectic elements of Gothic, Italian and Art deco design to produce an exquisite theatre. Oh, and how can I forget the musicianship of Mr Legend? His vocals were as magnetic as the ones sung from his albums and can really get you in a romantic mood (I'm being honest here!). How I wish my husband was there with me.
Ensemble was simple yet consisted of talented and highly skilled backup vocalists, drummer, keyboardist, guitarist and bassist. Harmonies were tight and I imagined myself being one of his dashing bv's doing the complete dramatic moves and little dances performed. (Sigh) I will meet with Mr Legend again one day to do a duet for his new song. I believe, I claim it in Jesus' name! Then after, we'll have tea with my husband and probably do some jamming and everyone's invited.
